Description
The Visby Leather Brigandine is a faithful reconstruction inspired by the archaeological discoveries from the Battle of Visby on the island of Gotland, Sweden, dated to 1361. This historical brigandine is built using overlapping steel plates securely riveted between two layers of leather, offering both authentic appearance and practical protection.
Unlike full plate armor, brigandines like this allowed soldiers greater flexibility and ease of movement while still shielding the torso effectively against bladed weapons and arrows. The use of leather as the outer material gives this piece a rugged, period-accurate look while maintaining structural integrity and wearability.
The armor features a front or side closure system for a snug and adjustable fit, and its rivet pattern replicates those found in historical excavation sites. Whether used for living history events, medieval reenactment, LARPing, or display, the Visby Brigandine Leather edition is both durable and visually striking.
