Description
These plate arms, originating from Milan in the late 15th century, represent the height of Italian armor-making during the Renaissance. Crafted from polished steel, the set includes a vambrace (forearm guard), rerebrace (upper arm protection), and a finely shaped elbow couter with fan-shaped wings—each piece expertly articulated for both mobility and protection.
Milanese armorers were renowned across Europe for their superior metallurgical techniques, balanced proportions, and aesthetic refinement. These arms reflect that heritage, with smooth, rounded surfaces designed to deflect blows and articulated lames at the joints to preserve freedom of movement. Typically worn as part of a full harness, such pieces were favored by knights and noblemen for both battlefield use and tournament display.
